Former White House Press Secretary Bill Moyers was a University of Texas at Austin student who wrote for the The Daily Texan there and went on to write fantastic books and host great programming, including the mini-series The Power of Myth focusing on my other favorite Joseph Campbell’s work.

My favorite book of his is The Language of Life, where he interviews poets from all over the globe and shows how they usually have similar drives despite living in such different cultures. A poet communicates a universal moment in the simplest of words so it affects everyone who reads it.
